ABOUT US
WHAT WE DO
WHITE WALL YELLOW DOOR is an artist-run initiative set up by Ashley Amery and Sophy Rickett to provide museums, galleries, theatres and other cultural establishments with resources for families and children.
We provide a full service from initial consultancy and provision of content, to the design and delivery of our innovative, interpretive and distinctive educational material which help families with children get more out of the exhibitions, performances and events they visit.
We work with individual artists to develop, deliver, publicise and monitor the effect of the public benefit aspect of their funding applications. We have been closely involved with several successful bids to organisations such as Arts Council England and the Heritage Lottery Fund, with a particular focus on developing public benefit and audience engagement.

OUR STORY
We met when our kids became friends. The first exhibition we visited together was Anna Barriball's show at Milton Keynes gallery in Autumn 2011. The boys were kept busy by a fantastic colouring book produced for a festival at the gallery earlier in the year while Edie, a few years older, was fascinated by Anna’s fireplace video work, which she said sounded like a giant breathing. Since then we have visited many exhibitions, performances and events and have become accustomed to the pleasures (and frustrations!) of appreciating contemporary culture alongside our children: Edie (11), Oliver (8), and Marlowe (8).
TESTIMONIALS
"White Wall Yellow Door produced a fantastic colouring book/ activity guide/ eye-opener for kids visiting Trinity Buoy Wharf. We conducted a joint marketing campaign with them, and our family visitor numbers have increased ten fold as a result. The booklet is a lovely piece of work that gets children (and adults) thinking about what is around them on the Wharf. We continue to distribute the booklets, and will order more when they are needed. All in all, a massive success!"
-John Burton Director of Urban Space Management
"Many thanks Sophy and Ashley for creating some fantastic activity sheets for us- they are proving a hit with children of all ages! We were impressed by your audience awareness as well as your sensitivity to the unique needs of our organisation, not to mention the visually engaging designs! The result of your work will go a long way toward strengthening our engagement with children and families."
-Stefan Marianski Freud Museum London
“The Chidren’s Activity Sheets and Time Traveller’s Trail designed for us by WhiteWallYellowDoor are so playful, bright, quirky and fun! They have really engaged young children as they explore the wonders of the Discoveries exhibition, and provide a great opportunity for accompanying adults to linger and ponder over intriguing questions.”
